Our story

Black Catalyst Network helps Black professionals and skilled newcomers land meaningful work in Canada faster, and helps employers hire them.

Our goal: 1 million Black professionals and skilled newcomers working in their chosen field by 2050.

The Readiness Gap

Talented people arrive with years of experience, then struggle to get interviews. 61% of the newer members we surveyed in 2026 are underemployed. BCN works on both sides of that gap: getting candidates ready, and connecting them with people and employers who can open doors.

How we got here

  1. May 2022

Nigerian Canadian Life (NCL) starts on X Spaces, co-hosted by Banks, Tunde, and Lami, later joined by Joel in July 2022.

  2. March 2024

Sector community groups launch, so members can support each other by field.

  3. March 2025

Live webinars begin, covering career, corporate and sector topics.

  4. November 2025

Banks formally incorporated BCN in Calgary.

Today BCN is a community of 3,000+ Black professionals across Canada, founded and led by Adebanke “Banks” Falade.

BCN is a certified Black business (Black Entrepreneurs and Businesses of Canada Society, certificate #B8001).
